Auburn

Auburn is a charming historic town located in the Sierra Nevada Foothills between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe in Placer County.

The location is ideal due to the close proximity to the job market, the shopping and nightlife of Sacramento and Roseville and the outdoor activities of the Sierra Foothills and Tahoe areas.

The Sierra Foothills and Auburn in particular are known for their outdoor activities as well as the Arts Community, Gift and Antique Shops, Breweries, Wineries, Coffeehouses, Restaurants and Farmers Markets.

Auburn is also known for its Gold Rush history and the historical buildings of Old Town Auburn and Downtown Auburn. Many of Auburn’s art galleries, gift shops, coffeehouses, breweries and restaurants are located in these fabulous historic buildings. Surrounding the Old Town and Downtown areas are pockets of beautiful Vintage Homes many within walking distance to shops, restaurants and hiking trails.

Auburn is considered the Endurance Capital of the World and home to the Auburn State Recreation Area. Many outdoor endurance events take place in the foothills such as:

  • Tevis Cup Equestrian Ride
  • Western State Endurance Run
  • American River 50 Mile Endurance Run
  • Way Too Cool 50 Kilometer Endurance Run
  • Auburn Century 100 Mile Bike Ride

There are miles of hiking, mountain biking and horse trails throughout the foothills as well as opportunities to go river rafting, canoeing and gold panning. Also there are golf courses with several located within gated communities. Many homes located in the Canyon Rim Communities are within walking distance to scenic hiking trails.

For those of you who prefer to shop, sightseeing, go wine tasting and visit sights of historical interest. Below are just a few:

  • Placer County Wine Trail
  • Historic Highway 49
  • Foothill Farmers Market
  • Walking Tours of Old Town and Downtown Auburn
  • Classic Christmas
  • Auburn Art Walk
  • Auburn Symphony

When considering purchasing a home in Auburn, think about the lifestyle you would enjoy. Do you want to live near hiking and biking trails, be a short drive or within walking distance to coffeehouses, restaurants and galleries or simply live undisturbed on a large parcel of land with horses in the pasture.

With this in mind I have provided micro-neighborhood pages where home buyers can not only search homes for sale in Auburn but also make a lifestyle choice.
